  Nebulous 2 up for preview!
Posted by: Firestryke31 - 02-28-2011 09:57 AM - No Replies
Nebulous 2 is now up for preview and testing! You can use the theme changer at the bottom, or by following link.

Once I've finished this theme and have it up for sale I will concentrate on finishing my Downloads Manager. I know I've said I'd work on it in the past, and that I'd be finished by now, but being jobless doesn't give me as much free time as I'd like. Neutral

This time, I'm working with a detailed plan of database structure, code flow and page layout. I won't be able to implement the one feature I really want (uploads not limited by php.ini) but just about everything else should be easy.

I would like to wish a Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and Happy Holidays to those who don't! Here's to hoping that the new year is a good one! Glee

  Vulpine Available for Sale!
Posted by: Firestryke31 - 12-19-2010 07:00 PM - No Replies
Vulpine, the foxy orange theme for MyBB, has been approved for sale at ShopMyBB! It is available for $10USD, and contains the theme's main images, as well as a set of slightly higher quality versions, and PSDs for the theme's buttons in case you want to create your own.

You can purchase Vulpine, as well as view screenshots, here.

Thank you to everyone that helped make our first theme release possible!

I am now working on redoing Nebulous to use some of the tricks I learned working on Vulpine and other little concepts.

  Vulpine Up For Demonstration
Posted by: Firestryke31 - 12-03-2010 06:04 PM - No Replies
After a week of development I have finished my latest MyBB theme, Vulpine. It was designed to see if I could capture the typical Web 2.0 feel in a forum theme. I certainly hope I was successful in this endeavor! Wink

For those that aren't already viewing it, you can use the quick theme menu at the bottom of the page to select it. As it is currently in beta, I would appreciate all of the comments and constructive criticism I can get!

Once I am satisfied that people like the theme enough, and that I've smoothed out all of the wrinkles, I plan on selling this theme (most likely on ShopMyBB).

  Not Dead Yet!

Okay, despite the fact that I've not posted any updates here whatsoever I just want to let everyone know that the site's not dead, and neither is the Downloads Manager plugin. While I have been distracted by other projects, I do plan on getting the plugin done, and still hope to have it done before Jan 1st, 2011 (though I can't guarantee it).

I've mostly been working on themes to sell (I'm getting much better at designing them) and that game I mentioned. SPAMBB was a failure due to lack of motivation, but I'm hoping that by pruning down the number of sites I'm working on to just this one and http://www.iPodWizard.net (which isn't actually mine, I just help keep it clean) I can make this site more active and useful.

  Download Manager Coming Along Nicely
Posted by: Firestryke31 - 09-22-2010 05:01 AM - No Replies
I've been working a bunch on the new Downloads Manager, and would like to announce it's around 35% finished. That doesn't sound like a lot but considering I started this incarnation this month it's coming along quickly. I've restructured the whole thing, so unfortunately there's no way to upgrade from the 1.x series at the moment. I've moved uploading files out of the Admin CP and given categories (and subcategories) permission sets of viewing, downloading and uploading on a per-usergroup basis. I also plan on giving users the ability to rate downloads. The goal is to get this thing to act as though it were core software from the users', admins', and even developers' points of view.

Update: I'm putting this project on a short hold since I'm away from the design documents right now and I know if I start working on it now I'll end up doing something stupid and have to start that part over from scratch. Maybe late on Oct. 1st I can start it up again; it depends on family plans.

Update 2: Nope, gotta wait until next week. Oh well, I've got other projects I need to work on, so this will give me a chance to get some stuff done on those.

  Website Restructuring
Posted by: Firestryke31 - 09-12-2010 04:25 PM - No Replies
Well, I bit the bullet and wiped the old forum and CMS. My reasoning for this is that previously I had tried to build the whole site as though it were bigger than it really was. As a result, people felt like there was nothing here and no reason to remain.

I am hoping that by redoing the website I can attract more users and a better, more active community. I can start this by making an important announcement: I am picking up the Downloads Manager plugin again. This will be a complete rewrite. I've learned much since I last worked on this plugin, and I'm hoping I can put this new knowledge to use in developing a more efficient and easier to maintain and extend plugin.

I will be working on this project in sync with a couple of others not related to MyBB, so development might not be the fastest at first, but I've already trimmed down on the number of projects I'm working on and have a bit more free time now to work on this.

I am also planning on taking suggestions for other plugins to work on once I've gotten some of my current projects finished. Remember, though, that they are simply suggestions and I might not create one for any number of reasons.

Thank you for visiting my new site, and I hope you enjoy your stay!
